The Winner's Kiss Blog Tour - Favorite Literary Kisses

Good day, Cupcakes! Today the blog tour for Marie Rutkoski's highly anticipated conclusion to The Winner's Trilogy, "The Winner's Kiss", is making a stop here at A Cupcake and a Latte. Each stop of the tour will feature a specific favorite literary kiss of the blogger's choosing. Today I'll be featuring.....

(The Mortal Instruments series - Cassandra Clare).

I don't often post gifs (or images) that contain content to television shows/movies/ etc on the blog, but Alec and Magnus were an absolute must for today's blog tour topic. I mean, come on, look at them! In a book or on the big screen - they just WORK!  (Also, if you haven't watched Shadowhunters...PLEASE DO!)

What book is your favorite literary kiss in?

I may be wrong (fellow fans, please correct me if I'm's been a while since I've read TMI) but the first kiss Alec and Magnus share in the books technically doesn't take place until City of Glass. However, my favorite (and legitimately their FIRST) kiss takes place in a short that author Cassandra Clare posted on her website. Readers can find the full scene here:

Who is kissing?

Magnus Bane, everyone's favorite High Warlock of Brooklyn, and Alec Lightwood, Mr. Tall, Dark, and Gorgeous.

Why is it your favorite?

Magnus and Alec were two characters I instantly fell for in the Mortal Instruments series. They were both unique and faced their own struggles. In this scene where Magnus and Alec share their first kiss, Alec is coming to terms with his love for Jace (and Jace's love for Clary) and his attraction for Magnus, knowing well that male/male relationships in the Shadowhunter world are forbidden and frowned upon.  It's a powerful and emotional scene that gives wonderful insight on both characters, and that kiss was beyond swoon-worthy!

Bonus Question: What kiss do you hope will occur in The Winner's Kiss?

I'm team Kestrel and Arin!!

by Marie Rutkoski
Publisher:  Farrar, Straus and Giroux
Format: Hardcover
Pages: 496
Release Date: March 29th, 2016
War has begun. Arin is in the thick of it with untrustworthy new allies and the empire as his enemy. Though he has convinced himself that he no longer loves Kestrel, Arin hasn’t forgotten her, or how she became exactly the kind of person he has always despised. She cared more for the empire than she did for the lives of innocent people—and certainly more than she did for him.

At least, that’s what he thinks.

In the frozen north, Kestrel is a prisoner in a brutal work camp. As she searches desperately for a way to escape, she wishes Arin could know what she sacrificed for him. She wishes she could make the empire pay for what they’ve done to her.

But no one gets what they want just by wishing.

As the war intensifies, both Kestrel and Arin discover that the world is changing. The East is pitted against the West, and they are caught in between. With so much to lose, can anybody really win?
