Recap: Frenzy Presents - Fall 2017 Edition

If you're anything like me, you'll tend to get overly excited when you're invited along for a bookish afternoon with other book bloggers. After my many years of blogging and being a part of the community, it still brings a smile to my face when I attend these events, especially those hosted by the HCCFrenzy team over at HarperCollins Canada. Frenzy Presents is an event that's never disappointed, has always showcased a series of very promising titles, and has always had us fellow book nerds screaming over incredible guest authors and goodies. With that said, September 10th was no exception!

The Fall 2017 preview event started without a hitch, and we were all greeted with an array of very friendly faces. As we made our way into the boardroom, where the preview would be taking place, and we began to settle into our seats, we took the opportunity to catch up with each other, grab some snacks and refreshments, and enjoy the incredible bookish decor (those banners were AMAZING!).

At 2pm precisely, the fall preview event commenced, and we were all eager with phones and pen to paper to be sure to capture all the goodness being presented. The evening mainly focused on showcasing only 15 upcoming (or recently released) titles that all readers of Young Adult should be aware of, and each title presented came with plenty of hype and praise that only made me more eager to dive into each and every one of them. The titles presented were:

They Both Die At The End by Adam Silvera
If There's No Tomorrow by Jennifer L. Armentrout
Top Ten by Katie Cotugno
Kat and Meg Conquer the World by Anna Priemaza
Release by Patrick Ness
Here We Are Now by Jasmine Warga
Three Sides of a Heart - an anthology

Before She Ignites by Jodi Meadows
Love, Life, and the List by Kasie West
One Dark Throne by Kendare Blake
This Darkness Mine by Mindy McGinnis
The Glass Spare by Lauren DeStefano
Zenith by Lindsay Cummings and Sasha Alsberg
Ace of Spades by Amanda Foody
The Last Namsara by Kristen Ciccarelli

Each title presented caught my eye for very different reasons. For the most part, The Last Namsara and Before She Ignites caught my eyes because of the involvement of Dragons, and Zenith, This Darkness Mine, and Ace of Spades due to their unique characters and story lines.  Additionally, Release by Patrick Ness and Jennifer L. Armentrout's If There's No Tomorrow had impeccable praise, and were also two titles I actually ended up adding to my TBR list immediately during the preview. Overall, each title presented at Frenzy Presents sounded like a promising read, and with the wide array of different genre titles involved, I'm certain all readers will find at least a few books they'll be desperate to devour!

Not long after the end of the presentation of fall's upcoming releases, we were graced with the presence of 3 of the most wonderful authors I've had the pleasure of reading (and now meeting)- Julie Murphy, Angie Thomas, and Becky Albertalli!  For those unfamiliar with the trio (and if so, LE GASP!!), Julie Murphy is the author behind Dumplin' and most recently Ramona Blue. Additionally, Angie Thomas is the debut author behind The Hate U Give, and Becky Albertalli being the author behind Simon VS. The Homo Sapiens Agenda and The Upside of Unrequited.  With that said, and having been an absolute fan from the moment I read their debuts, I was a nervous wreck before meeting the trio of kickass authors!

There was a short Q/A where we not only learned a lot more about the trio, but also received better insight on their titles and spoke about adapting their titles to film, which I'm very excited for!! (Insert Fangirl Flail). Immediately following the Q/A, we were all given the opportunity to get our books signed by the trio, and were also given the opportunity to take photos.

It goes without saying that Sunday was a fabulous day, and probably the best Sunday I've had in a very, very long time. It was a book nerd's fantasy come to life, and the wonderful team behind HCCFrenzy made it all happen. I want to send out a heartfelt thank you to the team for putting together yet another flawless event, and for Angie Thomas, Julie Murphy, and Becky Albertalli for making the trip to Canada and for stopping by and making a book nerd's dream come true. Thank you!
