Fresh on the Shelf - December 2018 Book Releases + Giveaway

Happy December, Cupcakes!๐ŸŽ„

I hope everyone had a lovely November, I know I certainly did!
I did plenty of reading, movie watching, and adventuring, most recently having seen the CP Holiday Train, which makes a yearly stop in Toronto. You can check out my short video below that I posted on Instagram - it was an absolute blast!

Anyways, is anyone else EXTREMELY excited for Queen of Air and Darkness? I pre-ordered the Indigo Book Box edition of Cassandra Clare's latest, and can't wait for it's arrival! It comes with a signed copy, a bookmark, tote bag, and mug - I can't wait! In addition to Queen of Air and Darkness, I also can't wait to read Kiss Collector, Evermore, and The Cursed Sea. All three titles are very high on my to-read list, here's hoping I have the time to review them!

See you in the New Year and.....

Fresh on the Shelf - November 2018 Book Releases + Giveaway

Happy November, Cupcakes!๐Ÿ‚

How was your October? Did you do anything special for Halloween?

I did A LOT of reading, working, and dressing up for Halloween. My several costumes included an adorable fawn, red riding hood, a Slytherin student, a vampire, and Wayne Campbell from Wayne's World. It was probably my favorite Halloween yet! Did you dress up? I'd love to know!

This month we've got many exciting new releases for YA lovers. Ogre Enchanted by Gail Carson Levine, Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald by J.K. Rowling, and Arch-Enemies by Marissa Meyer are among several of the titles I can't wait to dive into! Are there any November YA releases you're eager to read? Let me know!

Fresh on the Shelf - October 2018 Book Releases + Giveaway

Happy October, Cupcakes!๐Ÿ‘ป

I'm so excited for this month! It's, by far, my favorite of the year because;

a) The weather is AMAZING!
b) I absolutely adore the gorgeous colors of the changing leaves
c) Halloween
d) All the incredible spooky films and books I can binge watch/read!

With that said, I'm very eager to get this month started! Halloween plans aside, and oh-boy do I have plenty of them, I absolutely cannot wait for this month's amazing releases! Although lacking in the spooky department, I am so excited for Laini Taylor's upcoming release, along with Tahereh Mafi's, Ransom Riggs', David Levithan's, Sarah J. Maas', Becky Albertalli's and Adam Silvera's books. So much to read, so little time!

Which October 2018 book are you most anticipating? Be sure to let me know in the comment section below, along with any ways you're planning on celebrating Halloween this year (if you do celebrate, that is). I'll be doing some haunted houses and ghost walks. Spooky!

Get ready for my complete honest perspective and recap of this year's Fan Expo Canada 2018 and take a dive into the good and the bad I experienced last weekend (it was mostly good, I promise!)

Fresh on the Shelf - September 2018 Book Releases + Giveaway

Happy September, Cupcakes!๐Ÿ˜ป

Summer is just nearly over, which means many of you will be heading back to school and that the gorgeous, but sometimes sweltering, summer weather will soon be saying it's final goodbye. Even so, I'm eager for the beautiful fall breeze headed our way and the autumn festivities that are sure to start soon.

Additionally, the end of the summer also brings up several fantastic reads! I've been anticipating Marie Lu's Wild Card, Kendare Blake's Two Dark Reigns, and Courtney Summers' Sadie for a very long time and can't wait to dive into them the moment they hit the shelves.

Which September 2018 titles are you most anticipating?

Also, be sure to stay tuned for a special Fan Expo 2018 recap in the next few days. I'm currently attending the event and can't wait to share with you my honest experience this year, with plenty of cosplay photos and sneak peeks at panels.

{Event Recap} - Teens Read Fall 2018 Preview

I'm always ready for an excellent bookish discussion, and Raincoast Books has always been prepared to deliver! The latest TeensRead Preview took place on June 2nd, and focused mainly on upcoming fall titles with plenty of buzz. Unfortunately, I wasn't available to attend in person, but I did attend virtually through the Google Hangout. As I hunkered down, eager for the preview with WordPad wide open, I wondered to myself, "How many titles would wander their way onto my TBR list this time around?" The answer - almost every single one...I'm not even kidding!

As the presentation started, I found myself discovering several titles I'd only briefly learned of before, but also came across several new ones that sounded very exciting! Below you will find a detailed list of all the titles that were discussed during this year's Fall TeensRead preview, in addition to my own commentary on upcoming titles. Furthermore, you will also find a heart (๐Ÿ’“) emoji next to titles that have made their way onto my reading wish list and a maple leaf (๐Ÿ) emoji for titles written by Canadian authors.

{Event Recap} - Anime North 2018

I'm con obsessed! I must have been counting down the days to Anime North 2018 since last year, which sounds pretty crazy...because it is! As I mentioned in last year's recap on the event (click here if you missed it), it had been YEARS since I last attended Anime North. I was a frequent attendee for years, especially during high school, but not long after stopped attending because the event would get a little hectic, especially for someone as young as I was at the time. However, as I noticed during last year's visit, things seemed far better organized and felt so much safer both indoors and out.

Review: I Have Lost My Way by Gayle Forman

"In the light of the moon, he watches the pages flutter as the book sails higher in the air than the physical laws of the universe dictate and descends not at a painful eighty miles per hour but gently, slowly, as if gravity has, for this one moment, reversed itself, allowing Nathaniel to back up and imagine his life with a different kind of fellowship."

Fresh on the Shelf - March 2018 Book Releases + Book Giveaway

Happy March, Cupcakes!

Hope everyone had a FANTASTIC February!

I celebrated my birthday later in the month and had a phenomenal time. There was a delicious cake, and plenty of books. I'm pleased to say I got quite a few of my highly desired reads, and can't wait to dive into them when I have a chance. For the most part, I've gotten through any of the manga I received, so I hope to eventually have a chance to start uploading some reviews on my favorite series'.

What did you read last month? Any new favorites?

Most recently, I finished reading My Lady's Choosing by Kitty Curran and Larissa Zageris. It's a choose your own path romance title, featuring an array of unique male leads, and an assortment of different adventures. I, for the most part, have completed most of the routes, and plan to review it very, very soon!

As for March, there are so many exciting reads I can't wait to pick through. First and foremost, there's Tahereh Mafi's latest installment in the Shatter Me series, RESTORE ME. It's been so long since I've ready the trilogy, and I can't wait to read Restore Me! Additionally, I'm very eager for Children of Blood and Bone by Tomi Adeyemi and The Case for Jamie by Brittany Cavallaro.
What are you most excited for this month? Let me know!

Happy reading! ๐Ÿ“š
