{Blog Tour} Hate Notes by Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward - Review & Giveaway

It was the most beautiful love letter she'd ever read.
If only it had been written to her.

From New York Times bestselling authors Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward comes an unexpected love story of secondhand hearts and second chances…

It all started with a mysterious blue note sewn into a wedding dress.
Something blue.

I’d gone to sell my own unworn bridal gown at a vintage clothing store. That’s when I found another bride’s “something old.” Stitched into the lining of a fabulously feathered design was the loveliest message I’d ever read: Thank you for making all of my dreams come true.

The name embossed on the blue stationery: Reed Eastwood, obviously the most romantic man who ever lived. I also discovered he’s the most gorgeous. If only my true-love fantasies had stopped there. Because I’ve since found out something else about Mr. Starry-Eyed. He’s arrogant, cynical, and demanding. I should know. Thanks to a twist of fate, he’s my new boss. But that’s not going to stop me from discovering the story behind his last love letter. A love letter that did not result in a happily ever after. But that story is nothing compared to the one unfolding between us. It’s getting hotter, sweeter, and more surprising than anything I could have imagined.
Something new.
But I have no idea how this one is going to end…

Having never read a title by either Vi Keeland or Penelope Ward in the past, I figured it was about time to get a great impression on both authors through their collaborative novel together, HATE NOTES. It came to me highly recommended by Ambur of Thomas Allen & Son, and I have always completely respected her judgment when it comes to anything bookish. With that said, I was eager not only to finally discover why everyone swoons over Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward's books, and couldn't wait to discover how exactly that blue note came to be in that gorgeous wedding dress at the vintage shop!

"Dear Charlotte:
Do you know why squirrels love you so much?
Because you're NUTS.

This book was insane, but in the most delicious and addictive way! I haven't been this enamored with a contemporary romance in a very long time. I'm thinking Beautiful Disaster by Jamie McGuire, where I've re-read that book over a dozen times, that's the level of addiction I was experiencing. In fact, by the time I've written THIS review, I've re-read many of my favorite chapters at least three times. What pulled me in immediately was Charlotte's fateful encounter with a romantic love note found in a wedding dress, while at the same time trying to dispose of her own. She was immediately enthralled and curious of the man who wrote the letter, and in turn that, too, peeked my curiosity. Who exactly was Reed? But in a twist of events, and a drunken night of Googling, Charlotte discovers who he is and has a chance encounter with him, although the encounter isn't quite as exceptional as she (or even I) hoped would occur. From there, their rocky relationship begins to flourish into an addictive romance I simply could not put down. Reed was an extraordinary character to dissect. He was confusing, mysterious, bold, and dreamy - perfect for this lover of contemporary romance!

Without spoiling the events of the novel - and trust me this story turns into something the synopsis DOES NOT hint at - I can honestly say that Hate Notes by Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward was an absolute gem! It was steamy, the characters were incredible, and I have more than a few favorite chapters I can't wait to re-read over and over again. It's my new favorite go-to romance, an excellent pick-me-up after a gloomy day, and I highly recommend it to my fellow romance lovers who want something that definitely stands out among the rest. Well done!
