In the world of the Lux, secrets thrive,
lies shatter, and love is undeniable.

I've been a huge fan of JLA since Half-Blood first made it's way onto the blogosphere. I was one of the first few bloggers to review the title, and completely lost myself in the world of the Covenant series. Not long after, series such as the Lux series, The Dark Elements series, The Wait For You series, The Titan series, and the Wicked trilogy made their way out into the world, and I found myself loving JLA's writing more and more. Her exciting take on contemporary characters and settings, in addition to her unique twist on supernatural stories, sold me on being an ultimate fan of her works. With that said, when I learned of The Darkest Star, I panicked. It was as if the world of the Lux was being reborn once more. I had absolutely loved Obsidian, Onyx, Opal, Origin and Opposition, and couldn't wait to finally have a story all about Luc, whom was initially introduced in the Lux series about halfway through.

"Did you come out of the oven?" he asked.
"Oh God."
"Because you're hot."
"Please stop."

Stepping back into the world of the Lux was INCREDIBLE! It was nostalgic, and I found myself wanting to start all over again by diving into Obsidian. A re-read of the Lux series is in order, for sure! With that said, readers do not necessarily have to have read the previous series to understand most of what happens in The Darkest Star. JLA does a fabulous job of catching up readers when and where necessary, as to clear up any confusion or to refresh our memories. The heroes of The Darkest Star, both Evie and Luc, were phenomenal. Their growing understanding of one another, friendship and relationship, was a wonder to behold. Evie was the exact kind of heroine I expected JLA to provide to her readers, although I did wish Evie would be a little bit more open with how she feels. Luc, however, was exactly as I had remembered him from the Lux series. He was the same kick-ass Luc, who was dead-set on making everyone swoon in his presence.

Overall, The Darkest Star was an action packed wonder. I was on the edge of my seat during the very last half of the book. Readers with a passion for sci-fi titles about aliens, high school drama, and unraveling mysteries, are highly recommended The Darkest Star by Jennifer L. Armentrout.
