Sometimes I need an escape from the demands, the puck bunnies, and the notoriety that come with being an NHL team captain. I just want to be a normal guy for a few weeks. So when I leave Chicago for some peace and quiet, the last thing I expect is for a gorgeous woman to literally fall into my lap on a flight to Alaska. Even better, she has absolutely no idea who I am.

Lainey is the perfect escape from my life. My plan for seclusion becomes a monthlong sex fest punctuated with domestic bliss. But it ends just as abruptly as it began. When I’m called away on a family emergency, I realize too late that I have no way to contact Lainey.

A year later, a chance encounter throws Lainey and me together again. But I still have a lie hanging over my head, and Lainey’s keeping secrets of her own. With more than lust at stake, the truth may be our game changer.

Not going to lie - it has been QUITE a bit of time since I last read a sports related contemporary romance novel. In fact, at one point it was all I read (insert random Jaci Burton book title, because YOU KNOW I've read them all...seriously.) However, despite some time away from such titles, A LIE FOR A LIE by Helena Hunting came to me highly recommended by Ambur from Thomas Allen & Son, and if there's anyone I truly trust with a good romance read recommendation - it's Ambur. She's yet to lead me astray with her thoughts and recommendations, and I have to admit I was extremely excited when she name-dropped this book.

“And that’s what love is
learning how to lean on someone else, doing it together.”

First and foremost - I loved A Lie for a Lie! I had no idea before diving into it that it was connected to the Pucked series, but learning that made my reading experience oh-so-exciting and intriguing. Plainly put - I was giddy. I was addicted from page one, and simply COULD NOT put A Lie for a Lie down; there was no sleep for this book reader that night.I instantly fell for RJ - a handsome NHL player with quite the reputation. Additionally, I adored his instant chemistry with Lainey, who was an intriguing, fierce heroine I idolized from the get-go. A Lie of a Lie was a thrilling, romantic, and swoon-worthy read with heaps of twists and turns that pushed me forward to the edge of my seat. In fact, with that said, I'd have to say that to date, A Lie for a Lie has to be my absolute favorite novel from Helena Hunting (I'm so sorry Good Luck Charm, Clipped Wings and Meet Cute! I still love you - promise!) Romance readers looking for a book that will ignite their passion for sports-themed romances are highly recommended A Lie for a Lie! And I, for one, am eager to dive into the next installment in the All In series! *scrambles for next book*
